# Straight talk

Every design has a price. Here is Rooter's, said plainly, so that nothing in this document is discovered later.

**A coin can go to zero.** Locked liquidity means nobody can pull the rug. It does not mean anyone will buy. A coin is worth what the next rooter pays for it, and that can be nothing.

**No trades, no pay.** Every payment in this document is a slice of a trade that happened. The person, the launcher, the rooters and the root links earn nothing from a coin nobody trades. There is no rate, and there is nothing that tries to produce one.

**The person may never come.** A coin references a person who did not ask for it. They may never claim. Rooter labels every coin's claim state and never implies endorsement, and if they stay away, their share goes to the rooters. But the coin's story is theirs, and a coin about someone who wants nothing to do with it is a coin about someone who wants nothing to do with it.

**Sweeps can pay latecomers.** A wallet that buys the day before a sweep earns a day's share of it. The pool pays by balance and time, and a day is a day.

**The verifier is a key.** Claims need Rooter's verifier to be running and honest. Its powers are small and stated in [Claim your coin](/whitepaper/claim-your-coin.md), and it can be rotated, but it is a dependency and a person operates it.

**Code can be wrong.** Audits find bugs; they do not prove there are none. The pause stops new launches and new buys. It cannot protect money already in a pool from a flaw in that pool.

**The chain is someone else's.** Robinhood runs the sequencer. If it stops, Rooter stops, and starts when it does. Prices come from Chainlink; a stale feed stops launches and stock-quoted buys, and cannot make a wrong price right.

**Stock Tokens have an issuer.** They are debt securities of Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited with economic exposure only, under that issuer's terms, eligibility rules and pauses. Rooter does not issue, custody or redeem them. Where you live may make them unavailable to you.

**Rules can change.** Laws about tokens that reference people, and about stock-quoted instruments, differ by country and move. The interface applies eligibility rules; the contracts are permissionless and do not.

**$ROOTR comes first.** The token comes before the protocol. Its price is set by a market. Buybacks are how Rooter spends part of its revenue, not a floor under anything. Until the protocol is live, holding $ROOTR is holding a position in the plan written here, and plans can fail.

**Keys exist.** A multisig can move parameters within published ranges, add quotes and pause new activity. It cannot touch liquidity, escrow or the pools, and everything it does is on the chain. It is still a group of people with keys.

If any of the above is a surprise, read it again before you root.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://rooter-3.gitbook.io/whitepaper/straight-talk.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
