# Why Rooter

## The crowd makes the market

A person coin is not made by the person. It is made by a crowd. Somebody notices a name before everyone else and launches the coin. Others buy it while nothing is happening yet. Somebody posts it, and the next buyer arrives because of that post. The person the coin is about usually finds out last.

On Robinhood Chain today, that crowd is paid nothing. In the person-coin model already running there, every trade pays 3%. Two points go to the person, one to the protocol. The launcher gets zero, on purpose, so nobody launches ten thousand coins for ten thousand names. Holders get zero. There is no such thing as a referral. If the person never claims, their share is used to buy the coin back and burn it.

So the one participant who did nothing to create the market is the only one who earns from it, and the value of an absent person's share is set on fire.

## What Rooter changes

Rooter does not touch the part of that model that works. One transaction, one coin, liquidity locked forever, a fee at trade time, a claim for the person. What Rooter changes is where the fee goes.

* **Rooters get paid.** Half a point of every trade goes into a pool for the coin's holders, split by how much you held and for how long. Hold through the quiet weeks and you earn from every trade in them.
* **The launcher gets paid, but only when the person shows up.** Until the person claims, the launcher's half point goes to the person. After the claim, it goes to the launcher, on every trade, for good. Launching for someone who never arrives pays nothing. Bringing them in is the best trade a launcher can make.
* **Bringing a trade pays.** Every wallet has a root link for every coin. A trade that comes through your link pays you a quarter point of it, on chain, that trade.
* **Nothing is burned.** If the person has not claimed after 90 days, their unclaimed share goes to the coin's holders, because they are the reason the market existed.

The trader still pays 3%. Not a basis point more. What Rooter moves is the destination, and it moves it toward the people who were there.

## The one idea

Attention is produced by crowds. Pay the crowd.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://rooter-3.gitbook.io/whitepaper/why-rooter.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
